Motivations:
- It began from the idea of making manual translation of PO files
(Portable Object files)
faster. These files are essential objects in making local language
computation a reality. The Anubadok package comes with an explicit
program anubadok_po for the purpose.
While the original motivation was translating PO files but later it's aim was broadend.
For example, this translator could become an useful tool in translating contents of
Wikipedia.
Being Sanskrit
derivative language, Bengali has certain structural advantages for
machine synthesis of sentences. So, in feature complete state this
translator can handle preliminary translations reasonably well.
Then the volunteers can concentrate mainly in editing these pages.
Architecture:
-
It is written in Perl
and it uses
Penn Treebank annotation system for natural language
processing .
Anubadok system can handle several kinds of input including
plain text files, XML documents, HTML files with inline
javascript, CSS. Apart from these it is also capable of
directly translating Portable Object (PO) files.
Anubadok system writes out translated documents as Unicode encoded
Bengali texts.
